Brest commercial port - Securing a 150 T crane

Operation to secure the crane and remove the damaged boom following an incident.

OPERATION TO SECURE THE CRANE AND REMOVAL OF THE DAMAGED BOOM FOLLOWING AN INCIDENT.

The Solutions and Services teams intervened in inclement weather conditions on a crane with a lifting capacity of 150t at the Brest commercial port. This crane built by Joseph Paris in 1979 measures more than 80 meters high and weighs more than 1,300 tons.

A delicate operation

The operation consisted of securing the crane and removing the boom and cables damaged following an incident.

The work was carried out after a first diagnostic phase and a crane stability study phase.

This particularly complex operation required calculating the center of gravity of the different elements during each phase of the operation, in order to ensure that the crane would not tip over.

Likewise, each crane allowing handling was scrupulously positioned according to the calculations of our design office and the locations were marked out on the site.

The crane was moved to a position suitable for dismantling, the boom was placed on the ground and the counterweight value was adjusted to make the crane perfectly stable.

This operation mobilized 4 cranes (1 70 ton crane, 2 220 ton crane, 1 300 ton crane). Around twenty people were working on the site (handling teams, mechanics, electrical technicians, site manager, safety manager, etc.).
Our expertise as a manufacturer of this crane, and our ability to carry out stability studies allow us to carry out this operation in complete safety for the structure and for the people.
This operation demonstrates the know-how of the COMETE-J.PARIS Solutions and Services teams and the Fayat Lifting Solution division.
